10-member Kuwaiti delegation to participate in Youth Forum in Tajikistan

Jazeera Airways to launch direct flights to Tajikistan in August

In a move that underscores growing ties between the Gulf and Central Asia, Tajikistan will host a major youth forum bringing together young leaders from across the two regions.

Kuwait is set to play a prominent role, with a 10-member youth delegation participating in the Central Asia–GCC Youth Forum, to be held in Dushanbe from May 21 to 25 under the theme: “Youth — A Bridge of Friendship, Innovation, and a Sustainable Future,” said the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait, Dr. Zubaydullo Zubaydov

Speaking at a press conference at the Tajik Embassy yesterday, Ambassador Zubaydov praised Kuwait’s active participation and commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development.
“Kuwait,” he said, “is a model nation in harnessing the potential of its youth and involving them in the national development agenda.”

He added that the forum is part of the Joint Action Plan between the Central Asian countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council for 2023–2027, and is held under the direct guidance of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

The forum aims to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange among young leaders and innovators in fields such as development, innovation, culture, and sports.

The event also coincides with Tajikistan’s National Youth Day on May 23, and will promote values of peace, mutual understanding, and coexistence while helping shape a forward-looking youth vision to address global challenges.

In a notable development in bilateral ties, Ambassador Zubaydov revealed that Jazeera Airways will begin operating direct flights between Kuwait and Tajikistan starting August 2025. He expressed optimism that tourist numbers will rise significantly, noting that approximately 650 Kuwaiti citizens have already visited Tajikistan since the beginning of the year.

The ambassador highlighted the successful visit of Tajik Deputy Prime Minister Usmonzoda Usmonali and Minister of Finance Fayziddin Qahhorzoda to Kuwait, where they met with Finance Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Noura Al-Fusam.

He emphasized the mutual desire to diversify economic ties and explore new investment opportunities.

Looking ahead, he announced that the coming phase will feature official visits and technical workshops to showcase Tajikistan’s investment prospects in key sectors and to facilitate travel and residency procedures for Kuwaiti investors and tourists.

Addressing visa procedures, Ambassador Zubaydov confirmed that Kuwaiti nationals are exempt from obtaining a visa to enter Tajikistan.

However, he clarified that all foreign visitors, whether entering under visa-free arrangements or regular visas, must register with the Ministry of Interior within 10 business days of arrival. Diplomats must register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He added that citizens of 126 countries can now apply for Tajikistan visas easily due to streamlined visa procedures introduced by the government through an official decree.

In a separate announcement, the ambassador revealed that Tajikistan will host an international high-level conference on glacier protection in Dushanbe from May 29 to 31, 2025, in collaboration with UN agencies and international partners.

He described the conference as a critical milestone in the global effort to combat climate change and raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding water resources.

He reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to expanding international cooperation and developing sustainable policies to protect glaciers amid growing climate-related challenges.
