Six companies disqualified from bidding for PADA devices contracts

Official sources at the Public Authority for the Disabled Affairs said six companies have been disqualified from bidding for contracts to supply prosthetic devices for persons with disabilities.
The contracts include essential equipment such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, and other assistive technologies, according to Al-Jarida daily.
Out of 16 companies that initially submitted bids, 10 remain in the running for contracts that are expected to be worth millions of dinars.
According to the sources, the Central Tenders Committee recently forwarded the tender documents to the Authority. The Financial and Administrative Affairs Sector, in coordination with the Legal Department, is now reviewing the bids from financial, technical, and legal perspectives.
Recommendations will be made to award contracts to the company or companies offering the lowest prices while meeting strict technical standards.
The objective is to ensure the procurement of high-quality prosthetic devices that conform to international specifications and address the diverse needs of people with disabilities.
The sources noted that specialists in prosthetics and orthopedic surgeons have collaborated to develop a range of 35 different types of chairs tailored to various disabilities, as well as to select cutting-edge hearing aids that meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.
It is crucial to note that the new bidding practices include an improved mechanism designed to end long-standing delays and accelerate the distribution of these essential devices.
Hundreds of people suffering for disabilities have reportedly waited for years to receive the support they need. The new system is expected to streamline approvals and disbursements, reflecting the political leadership’s commitment to improving services for people with disabilities.
