GCC Cybersecurity executives meet in Kuwait to advance regional digital security

The Executive Committee for Cybersecurity of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) convened its fourth meeting today at the National Cybersecurity Center in Kuwait.

Taking part in the meeting were representatives from cybersecurity authorities, entities, and national centers across GCC member states — part of a series of regular meetings held under the Gulf Ministerial Committee for Cybersecurity, to enhance coordination and cooperation in the field of cybersecurity at the regional level.

The meeting addressed a range of key topics, including progress in implementing the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy’s executive plan, and discussions on strengthening the framework for international cooperation among GCC nations, reports Al-Rai daily.

Attendees also reviewed joint cyber exercises, and discussed preparations for the upcoming fourth Ministerial Meeting, scheduled to take place in Kuwait in the first week of September.

In addition, the agenda included updates on cyber awareness initiatives and the development of a cyber threat information-sharing platform, aimed at improving real-time collaboration in detecting and mitigating digital threats.

The committee further reviewed the work of its technical subcommittees, notably the Cyber Technologies and Operations Committee and the Governance and Cybersecurity Programs Committee.

Their recommendations were discussed and approved as part of broader efforts to unify cybersecurity standards, strengthen cooperation, and enhance expertise sharing among member states.

The meeting underscored the GCC’s continued commitment to achieving digital security, resilience, and sustainability across the region through strategic partnerships, shared knowledge, and coordinated policies.
