Yemen postpones execution of Indian nurse Priya scheduled

In a significant development, the authorities in Yemen have postponed the execution of Indian national Nimisha Priya, which was scheduled for July 16, 2025, sources said today.
According to sources, the Government of India had stepped up diplomatic efforts in recent days to seek additional time for Priya’s family to reach a mutually agreeable resolution with the victim’s kin.
Despite the extreme sensitivities involved in the case, Indian officials have remained in close contact with the prison authorities and the prosecutor’s office in Yemen, which ultimately led to the postponement of the execution, sources added.
The Ministry of External Affairs has been assisting in the case since the beginning.
