Year-end amnesty for voluntary disclosure of illegal additions to nationality records

The General Department of Nationality and Travel Documents has confirmed that, as part of the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to promoting transparency and correcting legal irregularities related to nationality files, individuals who voluntarily approach the department to report any illegal additions to their own nationality records or those of their family members will be exempted from the prescribed legal penalties.
This exemption applies provided the disclosure is made within the designated grace period, which runs until the end of the current year, reports Al-Rai daily.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior explained that the measure is part of its ongoing policy to grant concerned parties the opportunity to regularize their legal status without accountability, while encouraging initiative, disclosure, and cooperation.
The ministry noted that this approach helps safeguard rights, ensure the integrity of procedures, and enforce the law in accordance with established legal frameworks.
The department emphasized that all reports will be handled with the utmost confidentiality, professionalism, and responsibility, in line with approved legal procedures, to protect the rights of all parties and serve the public interest.
It also urged those concerned to make use of the grace period and promptly contact the General Department of Nationality and Travel Documents before the deadline expires.
