World Malayalee Council Kuwait province celebrates ‘Hridhyam 2025’ – A heartwarming Onam Festival

The World Malayalee Council (WMC) Kuwait Province celebrated “Hridhyam 2025”, a grand and heartfelt Onam festival, on October 3 at Hotel Park Avenue, Kuwait City. The event stood as a shining symbol of Malayalee unity, offering a vibrant platform for cultural expression and social commitment.

The celebration was graced by distinguished guests including WMC Global President and U.S.-based entrepreneur Dr. Babu Stephen, Indian Embassy Second Secretary Harit Ketan, WMC Global Vice Chairman Surendran Kannatt (Hyderabad), WMC Global Youth Forum President Reshma R. George (Abu Dhabi), and WMC Middle East President Sudheer Subramaniam (UAE).

Prominent personalities from Kuwait’s cultural, social, and business circles also attended the event, adding further grandeur to the occasion. Traditional performances such as Thiruvathira, Mohiniyattam, and children’s dance shows presented by WMC Kuwait members enriched the cultural charm of the evening. A live musical concert led by renowned Kuwaiti singer Mubarak Al Rasheed captivated the audience throughout the program.
The function was presided over by President Chessil Cherian, with General Secretary Justy George delivering the welcome address.
Chairman Mohan George, WMC Global Vice President Adv. Thomas Panicker, Middle East Vice President (Admin) Sibi Thomas, Kuwait Women’s Wing Chairperson Sujan Panicker, Global Women’s Forum Joint Treasurer Josy Kishor and Global Executive Member Deepa Suresh delivered felicitations. WMC Treasurer Suresh George proposed the vote of thanks.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Babu Stephen elaborated on WMC’s global vision, social responsibilities, and its mission toward a better future. He announced key initiatives planned for the 2025–2027 term, including scholarships for 100 financially challenged students pursuing nursing education, the establishment of a WMC office in Kochi, Kerala, and complimentary three-day resort stays at Marine Drive for members.
Further, Youth Forum President Reshma R. George announced plans to host a Global Youth Conference in the near future. Global Chairman Thomas Muttackal and Global General Secretary Shaji Mathew also conveyed their greetings through online participation.
To complete the Onam experience, a sumptuous Onasadhya (traditional Onam feast) was served to all attendees, adding flavor to the festive joy.
The celebration turned out to be a memorable day that truly touched the hearts of Malayalees and expatriates alike.
The event was coordinated under the leadership of former Global Youth Forum Chairman Kishor Sebastian, along with Shinto George, Sandeep Menon, Adv. Shibin Anasheril, Tony Mathew, John Samuel, and Naveen Paulose from the Kuwait Province team.
