In a heartfelt tribute celebrating the legacy of Kuwaiti women in civil society, the Women’s Cultural and Social Association held its “Women at the Heart of Change” forum at the St. Regis Hotel.
The event honored a distinguished group of pioneering women whose decades of volunteerism and civic contributions have left an enduring impact on the nation and society, reports Al-Rai daily.
Dr. Manal Al-Daihani, Chairwoman of the Association, opened the ceremony by highlighting the significance of the gathering, saying, “This moment embodies pride in a long history of volunteer work and a deep appreciation for the women who have given so much to Kuwait. These pioneers carved a path of generosity and dedication, reinforcing the role of women in civic engagement. Thanks to their efforts, our association has become a beacon in Kuwaiti civil society.”
She added, “These women have set an exceptional example of commitment and national belonging, turning volunteerism into a generational value. We remember those who have passed with deep gratitude and pray for their souls. I am also sincerely thankful for the trust placed in me and the unwavering support of our members.”
Former association president Lulwa Al-Mulla commended the achievements of the society since its founding in 1963, praising the honorees for their pivotal roles in advancing women’s issues and social causes. “Today’s board is made up of highly qualified individuals, and this event is a wonderful gesture that brings together the association’s legacy and its future,” she said.
Among those recognized were founding and veteran members such as Lulwa Al Qatami, Fatima Abdulaziz Al Ali, and other past board members and contributors, including those who have passed away, whose names were honored with reverence.
Dr. Moudi Al-Hamoud, former minister and long-time advocate for women, education, and civic leadership, lauded the association’s continued commitment. “This new board is a sign of continuity. The legacy of our pioneering women is alive and being carried forward by a new generation committed to national and social advancement,” she said.
Honorary President Lulwa Al Qatami, widely regarded as an icon of civic action, offered a reflection on the enduring value of volunteerism, describing it as “the act of offering help and exerting effort to promote goodness within society.”
Several prominent civic leaders shared their experiences in charity and volunteer work, including Adla Al Sayer, Lulwa Al Mulla, Ghada Al Ghanem, and Haifa Al Saqr, each offering insights into the challenges and rewards of community service in Kuwait’s evolving social landscape.
