Viral video sparks outcry, policeman detained for assaulting shop owner in Al-Qurain

An unidentified police officer has been detained at a police station pending investigation after a video went viral on social media showing the man in uniform assaulting a shop owner in front of a storefront at Al-Qurain Markets. The footage has sparked widespread outrage and prompted swift action by authorities.

The incident occurred during a routine inspection by female staff from the Ministry of Commerce, who reportedly discovered violations inside the shop, according to Al-Rai.

A security source indicated that the officer, who was passing by at the time, intervened and allegedly proceeded to insult and physically assault the shop owner.

Following the altercation, the shop owner filed a formal complaint, and the officer was summoned by the authorities and detained at the local police station pending thorough investigations.
