• The Ministry of Health has closed a private dental center and suspended one-day operations at a plastic surgery center for violating medical regulations and advertising standards.

• The Ministry of Health is continuing its inspections and oversight of health facilities to ensure the safety of services provided.

In a move to ensure the safety and quality of healthcare services in the country, the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi ordered the closure of a private dental center and the suspension of one-day operations at a plastic surgery center.

According to reports by Al-Rai newspaper, serious violations were discovered at both centers. These violations included advertising by an unlicensed employee, improper promotion of medical services and special offers, and advertising the prices of services – all prohibited by relevant laws and ministerial decrees.

The Ministry of Health specifically cited Law No. 70 of 2020 on the Practice of Medicine and its Allied Professions, Patient Rights and Health Facilities, and Ministerial Decree No. 87 of 2023 on the Regulation of Medical Advertising in the Private Health Sector.

Following investigations by specialized technical committees, the dental center was found to have violated provisions related to advertising by unlicensed personnel (Article 15) and the promotion of services and prices (Article 12 of Ministerial Decree No. 87 of 2023).

The plastic surgery center, while not facing closure, will have its operations suspended for one day. This action was taken under Article 37 of Law No. 70 of 2020. The center’s case has been referred to the Medical Liability Authority for further investigation.

The suspension will remain in place until the violations identified during inspections are rectified, and the Medical Liability Authority completes its investigation.

The Ministry of Health has emphasized its ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of healthcare services through inspections and oversight of health facilities.

They have called on all clinics, health centers, and hospitals to strictly adhere to established standards and legislation. This focus on compliance aims to safeguard public health, improve the overall quality of healthcare services, and ensure all facilities operate at the highest international standards.
