Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will embark on an official visit to Kuwait from November 16 to 18, 2025, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation, at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait.

The trip marks the first visit by a Vietnamese leader to Kuwait in 16 years and comes as both nations prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in January 2026. The timing underscores a shared intention to elevate bilateral ties to new strategic horizons.

During his stay, Prime Minister Chinh is scheduled to meet His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. He will also hold official talks with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The Vietnamese premier will meet a number of key Kuwaiti ministers as well as chairmen and chief executives of leading economic institutions.

A highlight of the visit will be his keynote address at the Saud N. Al-Sabah Kuwait Diplomatic Institute, where he will outline Vietnam’s foreign policy and strategic vision for advancing Vietnam–Kuwait relations.

Bilateral cooperation between the two countries has grown steadily, especially in trade and investment. Kuwait currently holds the largest investment portfolio in Vietnam among Middle Eastern nations.

The flagship venture is the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, featuring a Kuwaiti capital contribution of about US$3.5 billion.

Trade volumes have also reached historic levels, with bilateral turnover hitting US$7.3 billion in 2024—the highest between Vietnam and any Middle Eastern partner. Vietnam’s exports to Kuwait continue to diversify, now ranging from agricultural and aquatic products to fresh fruit, woodwork, machinery, equipment, and electronics.

Beyond economic ties, the two countries maintain broad cooperation across multiple sectors. The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has financed 15 infrastructure projects in Vietnam, with total contributions reaching US#182 million. At the local level, partnerships between Ho Chi Minh City and the Ahmadi Governorate, as well as Thanh Hoa Province and Farwaniya Governorate, have strengthened cultural, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
