Very cold nights, frost and fog forecast as winter tightens grip on Kuwait

European high-pressure system drives sharp temperature drop across Kuwait

The Meteorological Department has forecast cool conditions during the day and cold to very cold weather at night across the country over the weekend, with chances of frost forming in agricultural and desert areas, as well as scattered rain and fog expected in the coming days.

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwait is currently being affected by an extension of a European high-pressure system from the northwest, accompanied by a very cold air mass, reports Al-Rai daily.

This weather pattern is causing a noticeable drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures, along with light northwesterly winds.

Al-Ali explained that the country will continue to experience cool daytime temperatures and cold to very cold conditions at night, particularly in open and desert areas where frost may form.

He added that winds are expected to shift to southeasterly on Sunday, increasing the likelihood of scattered rain during the day and fog formation at night, which may affect visibility in some areas.

The Meteorological Department advised the public, especially motorists and farmers, to take necessary precautions due to the expected weather conditions.
