Vehicles impounded, suspects arrested in assault on on-duty policeman in Al-Wafra

The Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday evening that it has taken strict legal measures against those who were involved in the incident in which a policeman was run over while performing his duty in the Al-Wafra farms area.

The ministry stressed that any assault on security personnel constitutes a serious crime that will be met with firm and deterrent legal action without leniency.

In a statement, the ministry said that, within its ongoing security efforts to curb dangerous traffic behavior and enforce the law decisively, two vehicles linked to the incident were impounded.

Both vehicles had previously been seized in cases involving recklessness and negligence, underscoring the ministry’s zero-tolerance approach toward actions that threaten public security and safety.

The ministry explained that two persons were arrested in connection with the incident involving a traffic policeman.

The report on the incident was received on Thursday evening regarding a hit-and-run incident, and specialized patrols were immediately dispatched to the area to deal with the situation.

Investigations revealed that the incident occurred while officers were in the process of seizing a vehicle because it did not carry license plates and was involved in reckless and irresponsible driving.

According to the ministry, during enforcement procedures, the driver attempted to flee on foot and tried to escape using another vehicle without license plates.

In the course of this attempt, the second vehicle struck one of the policemen, causing injuries and lacerations to his hands and left leg.

The injured was transported by ambulance to Sabah Al-Ahmad Hospital’s Emergency Center, where he received the necessary medical treatment and examinations before being discharged. The ministry reassured the public that the soldier’s health condition is stable.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed that reckless traffic practices, attempts to flee law enforcement, or assaults on security personnel while they are performing their duties are grave violations that endanger lives and public safety.

It emphasized that the strictest legal measures will be taken against anyone proven to be involved, including the confiscation and impoundment of vehicles and referral of suspects to the competent authorities, in line with the rule of law and to safeguard the security and safety of society.
