The US Central Command said Sunday that the United States carried out five strikes in self-defense in areas of Yemen controlled by the Houthi group. Among the Houthi targets are a submarine, two naval boats, and three cruise missiles.
The US Central Command said in a statement that this is the first time that the Houthis have used an unmanned submarine since the start of these attacks on October 23, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The US command added that the targets it bombed represented an “imminent threat” to US naval ships and commercial ships in the region.
The United States and Britain directed repeated strikes on Houthi sites in Yemen with the aim of disrupting and weakening the group’s ability to threaten navigation in the Red Sea and undermine global trade.
The Houthis launch attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, and say they are targeting Israeli ships or those heading to Israel, in response to the war on the Gaza Strip.
