US embassy holds gala celebration to mark 248th Independence Day

Embassy of the United States of America held a gala celebration at the embassy premises to commemorate the 248th anniversary of independence of the United States. The event which is marked every year on 4 July was celebrated on 23 October in better weather conditions and a larger inclusion of guests.

Over 1,500 guests were treated to mouth-watering delicacies, which also gave the guests an opportunity to experience American hospitality.

A dazzling display of fireworks and live music were the highlight of the evening giving a sense of the 4th of July celebrations held in the US every year. Ambassador of the United States H.E. Karen Sasahara expressed jubilation at the event adding that the night was all about people having a good time by meeting, greeting and reconnecting with each other.

She also spoke about the special relations that the US has with Kuwait and stressed on wanting to remain a very good partner with Kuwait, and to continue working together and moving forward.

She pointed out that the US commitment to Kuwait is pretty well documented and that they have a significant military presence here, and added that it is the fourth largest presence of US troops outside of the United States.

Ambassador Sasahara further pointed out that the US would remain a strategic partner for Kuwait in a variety of domains, especially security, which reflects the firm US commitment to Kuwait’s security and sovereignty.

Regarding the cultural relations, Ambassador Sasahara said that thousands of Kuwaiti students studied at and graduated from American universities and have returned home to effectively contribute to the development of their country.

The celebrations saw diplomats, businessmen, academics, media and a various cross section of the community come together and enjoy an evening of camaraderie and American hospitality.
