United Indian School launches Alumni Association in heartfelt homecoming
Debut honors legacy; once a ‘UIS student, always a UIS family’

The United Indian School (UIS) marked a milestone with the official inauguration of its Alumni Association, bringing together former students in an evening filled with nostalgia, pride, and celebration.
The event was graced by the legendary Mrs. Susan Roy, former Director and Principal of UIS, whose arrival prompted a spontaneous standing ovation, setting the tone for an emotionally charged evening.

With over 200 registered alumni and numerous walk-ins, the turnout exceeded expectations. The program, hosted by Mrs. Cynthia Lobo, opened with a prayer by Mrs. Achamma Kuruvilla and a warm welcome from Mrs. Elizabeth Mani.
Senior Principal Radhakrishnan C. outlined the vision for UIS Alumni Association to create a lasting bridge between the school’s storied past and its promising future.

A highlight of the evening was a heartfelt video tribute by Mrs. Ermelinda Lawrence and her team, tracing the school’s history and honoring the contributions of its educators.
In recognition of her lifelong dedication, Mrs. Susan Roy received the Distinguished Service Award from Mrs. Tessy Chandy, Vice Chairwoman.

The segment “Talk the Talk – A rendezvous with Mrs. Susan Roy” offered intimate insights into her memories and wisdom, while Mr. John Thomas, Operations Manager, presented a token of appreciation to mark the occasion.
Distinguished alumni also shared their success stories, including Biju Cherian and Dr. Salima Yousuf Waris, General Physician and Diabetologist, both reflecting on the teachers and lessons that shaped their careers.

The mood lightened with a nostalgic school-themed quiz conducted by Mrs. Sheeba Sreekumar, followed by a Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Mary Litty, leading into networking, photography sessions, and tea.
The launch of UISAA is more than an association — it is a celebration of lifelong bonds. Alumni left with a clear sentiment: once a member of the UIS family, always a member of the UIS family.
