Unidentified ‘drug pusher’ arrested for running over officer, crashing into two patrol cars

A young man in his thirties has been detained at the Jabriya Police Station for investigation after running over a police officer and colliding into two patrol cars — one belonging to the Rescue Forces and the other the Public Security — causing damage to state property.

According to a security source, this happened when a report was received about an individual allegedly consuming drugs inside his vehicle.

A Hawalli rescue patrol, led by a lieutenant, responded to the call. When the officers arrived, the suspect suddenly stepped on the gas pedal, running over the lieutenant and ramming into the rescue patrol car that had been positioned to block his escape, reports Al-Anba daily.

Backup patrols were immediately dispatched, and during the pursuit, the suspect also collided with a Public Security patrol following which he was overpowered and arrested.

The officers found him in an abnormal condition and unable to speak coherently.

A search of his vehicle uncovered several bags containing heroin, along with used packets containing drug residues. The suspect has been referred to the General Department for Drug Control to determine whether he is a dealer or a user.
