To celebrate the 125th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Kuwait, the British Embassy hosted a ‘car rally’ featuring top UK automotive brands.
The rally, stretching from Marina Crescent to Kuwait Towers, attracted a diverse crowd of motoring enthusiasts who had the chance to admire a wide range of British-made vehicles—from vintage classics like the original Aston Martin DB5 driven by James Bond in Goldfinger(1964) and the Rolls-Royce of His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to the latest cutting-edge supercars.
The event not only highlighted the rich heritage and innovation of the UK’s automotive industry but also its significance in UK-Kuwait trade relations. In the twelve months leading up to the end of Q1 2024, the UK exported £286 million worth of cars to Kuwait.
Her Excellency Belinda Lewis, the British Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, who drove a magnetic grey Bentley Continental GT V8 in the rally, said, “Today’s car rally was a fun, family-friendly way to showcase British automotive excellence. Cars ranked among the top five British exports to Kuwait last year, with discerning Kuwaiti buyers appreciating the style and quality our brands offer. It was wonderful to see a variety of beautiful British cars up close, from sleek Bentleys, McLarens, and Aston Martins to rugged Land Rovers, and from vintage Rolls-Royces to cutting-edge electric Jaguars.”
