UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) will go live from tomorrow

The British Ambassador to Kuwait, Belinda Lewis, has confirmed that the UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system will go live on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

The ETA will make travel to the UK easier and more flexible than ever for Kuwaiti citizens, as well as other GCC nationals and Jordanians.

Applying for an ETA

“Applying for an ETA via the UK ETA app, available on iOS and Android devices is quick, easy and cheap,” Ambassador Lewis insisted. “Although most orders are processed quickly, we advise you to wait at least 72 hours to confirm the validity of the ETA permit,” she said.

She added that an ETA allows multiple short-term trips of up to six months each to the UK over a two-year period, or until the expiry of the passport used to apply, whichever comes first.

If you are unsure whether your trip is covered by the ETA, or if you think you may need a visa instead, please visit the UK government website: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa

Exploring the UK

London will always be a popular choice for cultural, leisure, sporting, and business trips. However, Ambassador Lewis hopes that Kuwaitis will also use the ETA to explore other parts of the UK. Direct Kuwait Airways flights to Manchester make it easy to reach the North of England. The UK’s extensive rail network offers connections to Scotland, Wales, and all parts of England. Northern Ireland, with its stunning beauty and culture, is just a short flight or ferry journey away.

Ambassador Lewis concluded by wishing everyone traveling to the UK over the long weekend and beyond a safe, smooth, and enjoyable journey.
