UIS Grade II Annual Day, a dazzling celebration of talent with “Alien Lost in Billions”

The pleasant evening breeze filled the air as the grounds and portals of United Indian School (UIS) warmly welcomed everyone to the Grade II Annual Day Celebrations – “Alien Lost in Billions,” held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 6 p.m., with open arms and joyous hearts.

The evening was graced by Mr. Anand Victor, the Principal of Indian Educational School Bhavans, as the chief guest. Other distinguished dignitaries included Mr. Joel Jacob, Executive Administrative Officer; Mr. Radhakrishnan C, Principal of United Indian School; Mrs. Mary Litty, Senior Vice Principal; Mrs. Reshmi Elizabeth Zacharia, Primary Vice Principal; Mrs. Anitha Somraj, Kindergarten HOD; Mr. John Thomas, Purchase & Maintenance Manager; along with the Grade II Coordinator, Ms. Zahabiya Shamim, and the Primary HODs.

The Annual Day celebration kicked off with immense excitement, bringing together the entire school community – students, parents, teachers, and distinguished guests – in the school auditorium. The event was expertly anchored by Mrs. Surumi Ansar. The UIS Music and IT Departments played a pivotal role, offering strong support and guidance throughout the preparation and successful execution of the program.

The event began with a heartfelt welcome, as the children, dressed in an Arab theme, graciously greeted the guests, setting the tone for a captivating performance. The celebration unfolded with an enchanting display of blooming kids dancing like fluttering flowers. The proceedings commenced with Kuwait’s national anthem, followed by the recitation and translation of verses from the Holy Quran, a prayer, the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, and a warm welcome speech.

The cultural extravaganza that followed was a true testament to the remarkable talent and creativity within our school. The annual function kicked off with a vibrant welcome dance performed by the various Grade II divisions. This was followed by inspiring words of wisdom from Mr. Anand Victor, the Chief Guest of the day, who then set the stage for the innovative play, “Alien.”

The highlight of the program was the play, “Alien”, which offered a fresh perspective on the story from Space to Earth. The play depicted the Alien’s journey across different countries around the world, providing a captivating visual experience for the audience, enhanced by stunning special effects, lighting, and sound.

In the play, the Alien finds itself lost on Earth and embarks on a journey across various countries and continents, exploring the world.

The performance by the students of Grades II-C and II-H, who represented America, beautifully showcased the lifestyle and music of the country. The students brought the performance to life by featuring popular songs from western countries, while their costumes, reflecting the unique culture of America, added an authentic touch to the presentation.

Following that, the students of Grades II-A and II-D delivered a lively dance performance representing Africa. The performance highlighted popular African dance forms and music, with the students’ costumes and props perfectly complementing the theme. The vibrant display left the audience thoroughly entertained and engaged.

Subsequently, the students from various Grade II divisions presented a vibrant dance performance based on the Arab theme. They showcased the traditional drink, Qahwa, and performed a captivating traditional dance, bringing the essence of Arab culture to life with popular songs from Arab countries. The audience applauded their enchanting and energetic performance, thoroughly enjoying their rock and roll rendition.

Thereafter, the students of Grades II-E and II-G presented a dynamic dance performance representing various Indian states. The performance not only celebrated the cultural diversity of India, but also highlighted the impact of Unity in Diversity on our lives, along with showcasing the bravery of the Indian Army.

After that, the students delivered a stunning dance performance representing all the countries together. Dancing to the rhythm of recent hit songs, the children wore vibrant costumes that added to the charm of the performance, captivating and mesmerizing everyone in the audience.

Each performance captivated the audience, highlighting the students’ skills, confidence, and dedication. The success of the Annual Day celebration was made possible by the tireless efforts of teachers. Their meticulous planning, attention to detail, and countless hours of hard work ensured the smooth execution of the event. They played a crucial role in guiding and supporting the students throughout the preparation process, nurturing their talents, and fostering a strong sense of teamwork.

The program concluded with heartfelt words of appreciation from the Principal, Mr. Radhakrishnan, who commended the students for their months of dedicated preparation under the guidance of talented teachers. He emphasized how their hard work had truly paid off. The Executive Administrative Officer, Mr. Joel Jacob, presented a gift to the Chief Guest as a token of gratitude. Additionally, the esteemed parents, Mr. Jiss Jose Thoppil and Mrs. Afreen Ismail Khot, acknowledged the efforts of the school management, principal, teachers, and students in making the event a remarkable success.

In her vote of thanks, the Grade II Coordinator, Ms. Zahabiya Shamim, expressed her sincere gratitude to all the team members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the event a grand success. The memorable evening concluded with the Indian National Anthem, leaving everyone with a sense of pride and fulfillment.

In conclusion, the Annual Day celebration at United Indian School was a resounding success, embodying talent, dedication, and the collective spirit of hard work among our students, teachers, non-teaching staff, support staff, school administrators, and the management team.
