The United Arab Emirates has called for dialogue, diplomacy and strict adherence to international law following the announcement of an agreement on a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, stressing that the development must translate into a comprehensive end to hostilities and greater regional stability.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said all parties must fully implement the agreement and respect the sovereignty of states and principles of good neighborliness, while ensuring compliance with international law.
Abu Dhabi also placed particular emphasis on maritime security and freedom of navigation, calling for the uninterrupted movement of vessels through vital international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE said protecting maritime routes and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open are essential not only to regional security but also to global trade, economic stability and prosperity.
The ministry welcomed the diplomatic efforts led by US President Donald Trump that contributed to the agreement, as well as the role played by other countries and parties in supporting the diplomatic process.
At the same time, Abu Dhabi urged the parties to maintain negotiations and build on the latest progress to secure lasting and sustainable outcomes rather than treating the agreement as an end in itself.
The UAE reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy remain its preferred approach to resolving regional and international crises, saying sustained diplomatic engagement is vital to protecting the interests of the peoples of the region and creating conditions conducive to development and prosperity.
