U.S. Embassy in Kuwait closed ‘until further notice’

The United States Embassy in Kuwait announced today (Tuesday) that it will remain closed “until further notice.”

In a statement posted on its official X account under the title “Security Alert,” the embassy said: “Due to ongoing regional tensions, the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait will be closed until further notice. All regular and emergency consular appointments have been canceled. We will provide updates once the embassy resumes normal operations.”

The announcement follows directives from the U.S. Department of State ordering non-essential government personnel and their families to leave more than a dozen countries in the Middle East immediately, including Kuwait, amid ongoing U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran.

On Saturday, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale joint attack on Iran, which in turn carried out retaliatory strikes under its operation “Honest Promise 4,” targeting sites in Israel as well as U.S. military bases in Gulf countries.
