U.S. Embassy in Kuwait issues ‘Security Alert’ to American personnel to exercise caution

Due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, and out of an abundance of caution, the U.S. Embassy has advised its personnel to exercise increased vigilance and has instructed Mission personnel to comply with temporary restrictions imposed by the U.S. military on access to Camp Arifjan, Camp Buehring, Ali Al Salem Air Base, and Camp Patriot.

Access to those facilities is limited to essential personnel only at this time. We encourage U.S. citizens in Kuwait to adopt similar safety measures.

We encourage all travelers to review our most recent Security Alerts and make appropriate decisions for themselves and their families. U.S. citizens should be aware of the potential for delayed and cancelled flights and other unanticipated travel impacts.

Travelers should anticipate lengthy delays at land border crossings from Iraq to Kuwait, as well as at seaports. U.S. citizens who plan to enter via the Iraq-Kuwait land border may send their planned date and crossing location, and personal details (name, date of birth, passport information, border crossing, any medical/health/safety concerns, contact information) and a photograph of their passport biodata page to the U.S. Embassy Kuwait American Citizens Services Unit at KuwaitACS@state.gov.

Providing this information may allow the embassy to more quickly assist you in the event of an emergency.
