U.S. doesn’t seek war with Iran but warns against retaliation: Rubio

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Sunday that the United States does not intend to go to war with Iran nor does it aim for regime change in Tehran, despite recent military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

In remarks to Fox News, Rubio emphasized that Washington’s goal remains deterrence, not escalation. “The world has become safer and more stable after the U.S. strikes on Iran,” he said, referring to the coordinated American assault on Iran’s key nuclear sites — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. He stressed, however, “this is not a war on Iran.”

Rubio issued a strong warning to Tehran, declaring that any Iranian retaliation would be “the worst mistake it has ever made.” He underscored that Iran possesses all the technical components necessary to develop a nuclear weapon, but “Iran will not be able to deceive President Donald Trump.”

Despite the heightened tensions, Rubio reiterated the U.S. willingness to return to the negotiating table. “Our offer still stands… We are ready to hold talks with Iran,” he stated, hinting at the possibility of a diplomatic resolution, even as the region teeters on the brink of broader conflict.

The diplomatic temperature remains high, as world leaders urge restraint while regional powers brace for further developments.
