Travel to Kuwait is discouraged due to threats from armed conflict, landmines, and crime.
On March 2, 2026, the Department of State directed non-essential U.S. government employees and their families to leave Kuwait due to safety concerns.
Since February 28, following the outbreak of hostilities between the United States and Iran, there has been an ongoing threat of drone and missile attacks from Iran.
Commercial flight operations have also experienced significant disruptions. The U.S. government is currently unable to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Kuwait due to these risks.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) or Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR) regarding civil aviation risks in or near the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman region, including Kuwait.
