Two Kuwaiti activists released after Israeli forces seize ‘Global Steadfastness Flotilla’

After Israeli occupation forces intercepted and seized the Global Steadfastness Flotilla—which aimed to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza—two Kuwaiti participants, Mohammed Jamal and Abdullah Al-Mutawa, were released and have since arrived in Turkey before returning to Kuwait.

The third Kuwaiti participant, Khaled Al-Abduljader, remains detained and is expected to be released in the next batch.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya confirmed that the ministry has been following the case closely since the beginning, coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of Kuwaiti citizens and secure the release of the remaining detainee, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s gratitude to Bahrain, Jordan, Turkey, and other friendly countries for their cooperation leading to the release of the two Kuwaitis. It reaffirmed that the safety of Kuwaiti citizens abroad remains a top national priority.
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed that the Kuwaiti and Jordanian participants were in good health, following visits by its diplomatic representatives to the Israeli detention site.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli assault on the humanitarian flotilla, calling it a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian principles, and urged the international community to pressure Israel to halt its violations and ensure the safe passage of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The National Human Rights Council echoed this condemnation, stressing that Israel’s obstruction of humanitarian efforts constitutes a serious breach of international humanitarian law and called for the immediate release of all flotilla participants and the unhindered delivery of aid to Gaza.
