Two Gulf citizens sentenced to seven years in prison; fined of one million dinars for forging Kuwaiti citizenship

The Criminal Court, chaired by Counselor Nasser Al-Badr, has sentenced two Gulf nationals to seven years in prison and imposed a fine of one million dinars after they were found guilty of forging the Kuwaiti citizenship by falsely claiming kinship to a deceased Kuwaiti man.

According to the Public Prosecution, the defendants, who were employed at the time, unlawfully obtained financial assistance from the Kuwait Credit Bank, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the Public Authority for Housing Welfare. They also received various benefits reserved exclusively for Kuwaiti citizens, reports Al-Rai daily.

Investigations revealed that the crime was closely tied to the felony of forgery in official documents, as the defendants submitted falsified papers containing fabricated data to employees of government-affiliated agencies. These forged documents, including a civil ID, nationality certificate, and passport, were crafted to appear authentic.

By taking advantage of the employees’ good faith, the defendants managed to alter official records, leading to the unlawful disbursement of funds to their accounts. The court’s verdict underscores Kuwait’s firm stance against forgery and the illegal acquisition of citizenship or public funds.
