Türkiye, Kuwait relations set to soar under visionary leadership, says ambassador

During the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, Tuba Nur Sönmez, the Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait, hosted a National Day Reception, emphasizing the embassy’s commitment to initiatives that benefit both nations while highlighting the solidarity and collaboration between Türkiye and Kuwait in challenging times.

On the occasion of the celebration of 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye, the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait hosted a National Day Reception at St Regis Hotel on 29th of October, 2024.

In her inauguration speech of the Reception, Ambassador Sönmez emphasized that under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and His Highness, Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the fraternal ties between Türkiye and Kuwait have been further strengthened, and it is destined to reach new heights in every field.

Her Excellency also affirmed that the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait remains dedicated to enhancing these connections and promoting initiatives that mutually benefit both nations. Additionally, she highlighted the solidarity and close collaboration that Türkiye and Kuwait have demonstrated during challenging times.

Ambassador Sönmez concluded her remarks by thanking to the sponsors of the event, Kuwait Finance House, Al-Ghanim Industries (Platinum sponsors), National Bank of Kuwait and LİMAK Holding (gold sponsors), Turkish Airlines, MUSIAD Kuwait, and Kuwait Danish Dairies (silver sponsors) for their generous support as well as bronze sponsors Ajet, Armada Group, Hafız Mustafa, MADO, Pegasus Airlines, Jazeera Airways, and Sun Express.

After her speech, the video message of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Türkiye was screened. Subsequently, Ambassador Sönmez presented a commemorative gift from the Turkish State Archives to the Guest of Honor, H.E. Khalifa Abdullah Dhahi Ajeel Al-Askar, Minister of Commerce and Industry. They then proceeded to the cake-cutting ceremony.

After the cake-cutting ceremony, two talented young Turkish artists, Ms. Eda Seviniş on piano and Mr. Umut Sağlam on cello, presented a memorable performance to the guests.

Following the concert, guests participated in a raffle drawing which gave away 18 round-trip tickets to Türkiye.

During the Reception, a diplomatic documents exhibition titled “60 Years of Diplomatic Relations, Enduring Friendship Between Türkiye and Kuwait: Documents From Archives” was on display. The exhibition showcased selected documents from the Turkish State Archives, including press reports, diplomatic communications, and photographs, which illustrate the deep-rooted ties and enduring friendship between Türkiye and Kuwait. A commemorative booklet, prepared with the sponsorship of MUSAID Kuwait and including materials from the exhibition, was also presented to the guests.

Moreover, a Khatt Exhibition, featuring artworks from renowned Turkish calligraphists was displayed at the Reception hall. The artworks were presented in collaboration with the Sal Sabeel Charity Society to support the victims of the February 2023 earthquake disaster in Türkiye.

Ambassador Tuba Nur Sönmez was accompanied by H.E. Khalifa Abdullah Dhahi Ajeel Al-Askar, Minister of Commerce and Industry, His ExcellencyProf. Dr. Lütfihak Alpkan, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security of the Republic of Türkiye, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tokdemir, Director of the State Archives of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye; Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, Rector of Gazi University and former Director of the State Archives of Türkiye; as well as the members of the diplomatic corps, cultural envoys, high-level Kuwaiti officials, CEOs, representatives of companies and NGOs.
