Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the State of Kuwait
As Türkiye’s Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, I am deeply honored to witness the growing strength of the relationship between our two nations — one that is not only strategic in nature but also profoundly fraternal in spirit. The upcoming visit of H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Kuwait is a reflection of this enduring bond and a testament to our shared commitment to peace, prosperity, and solidarity in our region.
Türkiye and Kuwait have cultivated a partnership built on mutual respect, trust, and cultural closeness. The 60th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, celebrated last year, was a moment of pride and reflection—a reminder of how far we have come and how much more we can achieve together.
His Highness Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s historic visit to Türkiye in May 2024 marked a turning point in our bilateral ties. It was his first official visit outside the Arab world and the first Amiri-level visit to Türkiye in seven years. This meaningful gesture highlighted Kuwait’s recognition of Türkiye as a key regional partner and opened a new chapter in our relations.
President Erdoğan’s reciprocal visit is expected to further deepen our cooperation. We will sign agreements in vital sectors such as trade, investment, defense, energy, transportation, and culture — agreements that will not only strengthen our bilateral ties but also support Kuwait’s Vision 2035 and its goals for sustainable development.
Our partnership also extends to regional matters. Türkiye and Kuwait share common sensitivities and principled positions on critical issues, particularly in Palestine and Syria. In these challenging times, our cooperation becomes even more essential, and I believe our leaders’ dialogue will contribute meaningfully to regional peace and humanitarian efforts.
Kuwait’s swift and heartfelt support following the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye was a profound act of solidarity. The compassion shown by our Kuwaiti brothers and sisters during those difficult days touched the hearts of millions. We will never forget the kindness, generosity, and empathy extended to us—it is etched in our collective memory as a symbol of true brotherhood.
Economically, our partnership continues to thrive. In 2024, bilateral trade reached approximately $720 million. Over 400 Kuwaiti companies operate in Türkiye, while around 50 Turkish firms are active in Kuwait, particularly in construction. These figures are promising, and with the strong political will on both sides, we are confident they will grow even further.
The Türkiye–Kuwait Business Forum held in November 2024 was a key step in this direction. Turkish companies have also played a vital role in Kuwait’s infrastructure development, including the Kuwait International Airport Terminal II project. Türkiye’s dynamic sectors—construction, defense, tourism, and technology—offer attractive opportunities for Kuwaiti investors.
Cultural exchange remains a cornerstone of our relationship. In celebration of our 60th anniversary, we organized a series of events—from the opening of a Turkish book section at the Kuwaiti National Library to concerts, exhibitions, and the inauguration of a mural at Souq Al Mubarakiya.
These moments were not just diplomatic gestures—they were heartfelt celebrations of our shared heritage and mutual affection.
Our people-to-people ties continue to flourish. Kuwaiti tourists and property owners in Türkiye, Turkish professionals working in Kuwait, and the growing interest in each other’s languages and traditions are all signs of a vibrant and living connection between our societies.
As I reflect on the journey we have taken together, I am filled with hope and gratitude. Türkiye and Kuwait are more than partners—we are brothers and sisters bound by history, values, and a shared vision for the future. In every challenge we face and every opportunity we embrace, we do so side by side.
May this visit mark not only a new chapter in our diplomatic relations but also a renewed commitment to walk together, hand in hand, toward a future of peace, prosperity, and enduring friendship.
