Turkish General Metin Gürak’s Kuwait visit marks new era in military cooperation

The visit of the Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces, the first in over twenty years, highlights the strengthening military ties between Kuwait and Türkiye.

General Metin Gürak, Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces, held meetings with senior Kuwaiti defense officials, including Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, as well as Air Marshal Sheikh Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Army.

General Metin Gürak, Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces, along with senior military officials, visited Kuwait on January 7-8.

The delegation was welcomed upon arrival at the Amiri Airport by the Commander of Kuwait Air Defense, Major General Khalid Sajid Al Shreean, the Deputy Commander of Amiri Guards, Adel A.K.M. Al Kandari, and H.E. Tuba Nur Sönmez, the Ambassador of Türkiye to the State of Kuwait. A military ceremony was held in their honor before the official meetings commenced.

General Gürak, during his visit, held meetings with senior Kuwaiti defense officials, including Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, as well as Air Marshal Sheikh Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Army.

The delegation also visited the Turkish Embassy, where they signed the guest book.

This visit, the first of its kind in over twenty years at this level from Türkiye to Kuwait, underscores the strengthening military cooperation between Kuwait and Turkey.
