Tunisian embassy hosts “Francophone Diwaniya” to promote cultural dialogue
Tunisian Ambassador Al-Boudali stated that Launching 'Diwaniya' in Francophone Meetings Symbolizes the Richness of Kuwaiti Heritage

The Tunisian Embassy in Kuwait, in collaboration with the French Institute and the Council for the Advancement of La Francophonie, hosted a gathering as part of the French-speaking Diwaniya series at the residence of Tunisian Ambassador to Kuwait, His Excellency Mohamed Karim Al-Boudali. This event is part of a series of regular meetings organized by French-speaking embassies to promote the values of dialogue, solidarity, and cultural openness.
In his speech, delivered in the presence of numerous heads of diplomatic missions and citizens, Ambassador Al-Boudali emphasized the significance of the French language as a bridge for communication between nations.
Ambassador Al-Boudali highlighted Tunisia’s dedication to preserving its cultural diversity and reinforcing its position within the Francophone community. Additionally, he commended Kuwait’s influential role in the Arab cultural scene and extended congratulations to the country on being selected as the Capital of Arab Culture and Information for 2025.
Moreover, Ambassador Al-Boudali further noted that the theme of this series of French-speaking meetings, titled “Diwaniya,” reflects the values of cultural diversity and openness. He explained that the term “Diwaniya” was chosen to honor a concept unique to Kuwait, symbolizing the richness of its heritage. This, he said, is rooted in the values of a nation with a cultural vision that is widely recognized and embraced by all.
Ambassador Al-Boudali added that French is the second language in Tunisia, following Arabic. He highlighted that it serves not only as a tool for literary and artistic expression but also as a means for scientific and academic study. He emphasized that French opens a window to the world, helping to build strong connections and bridges with the international community.
Importantly, Ambassador Al-Boudali stated that Tunisia’s commitment, reaffirmed during the organization of the 2022 Djerba Summit, is rooted in its role as a co-founder of the International Organisation of La Francophonie. He also highlighted Tunisia’s long-standing traditions as a land of hospitality and cultural, where various civilizations have historically converged.
The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on the importance of continuing such events to further strengthen cultural ties. It was noted that these gatherings foster an atmosphere of respect and intellectual exchange, allowing attendees to share ideas and deepen their mutual understanding.
