TSC and KISR sign MoU to advance environmental research and public awareness
MoU reflects the shared commitment of both parties to develop national talent and equip a new generation of researchers with the tools and skills needed to tackle environmental and scientific challenges.

In a move aimed at deepening scientific cooperation and supporting goals of national development, The Scientific Center, a subsidiary of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) on Wednesday.
The agreement seeks to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions in areas of mutual scientific and environmental interest, with a focus on launching sustainable educational and research projects that align with Kuwait’s strategic priorities, reports Al-Rai daily.
Musaed Al-Yassin, Director General of The Scientific Center, said the MoU encompasses cooperation in fields such as marine and desert ecosystems, aquaculture, biodiversity, water quality, nutrition, and food security. These initiatives will involve applied scientific research, awareness campaigns, and training programs.
The memorandum also includes plans to organize joint scientific events and exhibitions; exchange expertise and consultancy services; introduce training and capacity-building programs and host researchers and develop scientific tools, especially in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and data analytics.
A joint coordination committee will be formed to oversee the implementation and ensure flexibility and scalability in the execution of projects. The three-year renewable agreement includes a system of periodic evaluations to measure progress and impact.
Al-Yassin highlighted that the agreement builds on a longstanding partnership between the two institutions, which has already produced impactful scientific and environmental initiatives that raised public awareness and contributed to Kuwait’s knowledge base.
He emphasized that the MoU reflects both parties’ shared commitment to developing national talent and equipping a new generation of researchers with the tools and skills needed to tackle environmental and scientific challenges.
Faisal Al-Humaidan, Acting Director General of KISR, welcomed the agreement, stating it would help translate research findings into public awareness efforts that support Kuwait’s shift toward a knowledge-based and sustainable society. He stressed the importance of developing educational programs that resonate with younger generations and contribute to a greener future.
