US President Donald Trump has warned that American forces could strike Iran’s heavily fortified underground Pickaxe Mountain site located near Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility site “very soon,” raising the prospect of another major US military action against a strategically important Iranian facility.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump said, “We may hit Pickaxe very soon,” but did not provide a specific reason or timeline for a possible strike. Trump also issued a broader warning, saying the United States was closely monitoring movements across Iran, news agencis reports.
“We know everybody that’s moving everywhere, all over Iran. And if anything goes bad, we hit them. We hit them hard,” he said. His remarks signal that the US is maintaining the option of further military action against Iranian targets, with Pickaxe Mountain now emerging as a potential focus of US operations.
Trump did not elaborate on what circumstances could trigger a strike or whether a decision to attack the site had already been made.
