US President Donald J. Trump did not rule out the possibility of resuming the air attacks on Iran to obliterate the remaining stockpile of the latter’s ballistic missiles.
Washington received an amended proposal from Tehran, he told reporters at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida on Saturday night, noting that he was apprised of the general guidelines of it.
Although he believes the Iranian plan is inappropriate, President Trump affirmed that he would soon review it when he receives the exact text.
He reiterated that Iran would need 20 years to rebuild its military capabilities and this is why they are eager to reach an agreement.
The US administration will continue doing what it has to do with regard to Iran, he said, stressing that Iran should pay dearly for what it had done over the past 47 years.
Regarding the Democrats’ call for an approval from the Congress for any future military action against Iran, President Trump said many former presidents engaged in conflicts without congressional mandate.
The Iranian proposal, reportedly submitted through Pakistan, calls for cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, and lifting the US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. – Kuna
