Trump says, Iran’s choice of Mojtaba Khamenei ‘Not Acceptable’ as military strikes continue

US President Donald Trump expressed his dissatisfaction Monday with the selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s new Supreme Leader.

In his first comments to Fox News on the Iranian leadership’s announcement of Khamenei’s appointment, Trump said he was “not happy” with the decision, a direct warning to Iran, which is currently facing a large-scale military operation.

Prior to the Iranian leadership’s announcement on Sunday, Trump had told reporters that he considered Khamenei’s appointment “unacceptable.”

He added, “Khamenei’s son is unacceptable to us. ” We want someone who will bring harmony and peace to Iran.”

He emphasized that the military operation against the Iranian regime continues to achieve its objectives on the ground, stating, “We have sunk all of Iran’s ships and destroyed most of its missile launch sites, leaving only 20 percent of them intact.”

He added that Iran still possesses “some remaining capabilities,” noting that it “has suffered extremely heavy blows, unlike any other country.”

He said that Iran had fired 2,000 missiles at several countries in the Middle East over the past four months, “and we are working to destroy them and achieve our goals.”
