Trump in no mood to extend August 1 tariff hike deadline

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed today that the August 1 deadline for implementing higher tariffs on imports from several countries remains unchanged, dismissing any speculation about further delays.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated firmly: “There has been no change to this date, and there will be no change.”
This declaration came a day after he appeared to signal some flexibility, saying the date was “firm, but not 100 percent firm.” The tariffs, originally scheduled to take effect on July 1, were postponed after Trump signed an executive order moving the implementation to August 1, reports Al-Rai daily.
On Monday, Trump began formally notifying ‘U.S. trading partners, particularly in Asia’ of the incoming tariffs on selected products, reaffirming his protectionist stance heading into the latter half of 2025.
