In a sharp rebuke today, U.S. President Donald Trump accused both Israel and Iran of breaching the ceasefire agreement he claimed to have brokered just hours earlier.
Speaking to reporters before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump expressed particular dissatisfaction with Israel, stating that the country “walked away” from the deal almost immediately after committing to it, reports Al-Rai daily.
“I’m not happy with either country, especially Israel,” Trump said, underscoring a rare moment of criticism directed at America’s long-time Middle Eastern ally. He emphasized that the ceasefire was meant to de-escalate growing tensions in the region but was quickly disregarded by both sides.
In a separate and more direct message posted on his own media platform, Trump warned Israel, “Don’t drop those bombs. If you do, it’s a grave violation. Bring your pilots home now!”
The comments come amid renewed clashes between Israeli forces and Iranian-aligned militias, as well as rising fears over Iran’s nuclear intentions. While Trump declared that Iran’s nuclear capabilities were “finished,” he did not elaborate on whether that assessment was based on intelligence or political posturing.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard also issued a statement today, asserting that they continue to “monitor Israeli movements closely,” suggesting that tensions remain high despite talk of a ceasefire.
