Traffic Department enforces two-month vehicle impoundment for parking, obstruction violations

The General Traffic Department has issued an administrative circular mandating the impoundment of vehicles for two months for motorists committing violations such as improper overtaking, deliberately obstructing traffic, or parking in prohibited areas. Violators will also be required to pay fines ranging from 15 to 20 Kuwaiti dinars after the impoundment period ends.
A security source confirmed that the circular took effect yesterday, noting that the two-month impoundment penalty had already been applied in recent days for overtaking and obstruction violations, as well as other serious offenses. The new directive expands these penalties to include parking-related violations, which have become increasingly common in public parking areas, reports Al-Anba daily.
The circular, identified as No. 9/2025, instructs assistant directors, department heads, and all relevant employees to strictly enforce the new measures and prohibits any official from lifting the impoundment of a violating vehicle before the penalty period expires.
