Traffic crackdown across Kuwait, over 3,200 violations in 24 hours
Hospitals, streets targeted in major traffic campaign; 47 vehicles impounded in nationwide traffic sweep
A nationwide traffic enforcement campaign recorded 3,206 violations in just 24 hours, according to statistics released by the General Directorate of Traffic. As part of the operation, 47 vehicles and motorcycles were impounded, while 322 violations were issued for illegal parking in hospitals, obstructing ambulances and emergency personnel.
The campaign, conducted across all governorates and hospital areas, targeted vehicles parked in prohibited zones, some of which blocked traffic and hindered medical staff.
Al-Amiri Hospital saw the largest share, with 119 violations issued.
By governorate, Al-Ahmadi led with 570 violations, followed by Al-Farwaniya with 536, and the Capital Governorate with 451 violations. Al-Jahra recorded the lowest with 358 violations.
The violations included using a mobile phone while driving, failing to wear seatbelts, excessive window tinting, and noisy vehicles, as well as offenses by trucks and taxis.
During the campaign, 205 serious violations were recorded for deliberately obstructing traffic and unsafe overtaking, which can cause congestion and road paralysis.
Six individuals were referred to the detention center, and two juveniles were sent to the juvenile facility for driving without a license. Authorities also referred 11 residency violators to the competent departments.
A security source told Al-Rai that officers relied on monitoring devices and modern cameras to photograph violations and issue fines through an app, enhancing enforcement efficiency.
“Some vehicles had to be blocked because they obstructed traffic, ambulances, patients, and people with special needs,” the source added.
Traffic authorities emphasized that the new generation of cameras supports officers in monitoring deliberate traffic violations, including overtaking at intersections and ignoring traffic lights, ensuring safer roads for all.
