Tourism committee maps out bold plans to showcase Kuwait’s must-see destinations

Tourism intersects with every sector in the country, including culture, media, environment, health, and the arts. Any successful project, he noted, must adhere to the standards of the World Tourism Organization – Minister Al-Mutairi

The Supreme Tourism Committee, chaired by Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, held its second meeting to further enhance Kuwait’s growing tourism landscape.

Joined by Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Nasser Muhaisen and committee members, the meeting focused on new promotional initiatives aligned with the unified identity of the Visit Kuwait platform — an ambitious effort to promote the country’s most captivating landmarks and experiences for both visitors and residents.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Information noted that Minister Al-Mutairi emphasized the importance of building Kuwait’s tourism ecosystem in full collaboration with government entities, private-sector partnership, and the civil society, reports Al-Rai daily.

The meeting, held at the Maritime Museum of the iconic Radisson Blu Hotel, sent a clear message about Kuwait’s renewed focus on tourism. Al-Mutairi noted that future committee meetings will be held at prominent touristic or cultural sites, with emphasis that “each gathering is a statement of our commitment to advance the tourism sector and bring its importance into the national spotlight.”

He went on to say, that the need of the hour is, what he called, the ‘unified national effort to shape Kuwait’s tourism future’ —whether through refining regulations, upgrading infrastructure, unlocking new opportunities, or overcoming existing challenges.

Tourism, he stressed, intersects with every sector in the country, including culture, media, environment, health, and the arts. Any successful project, he noted, must adhere to the standards of the World Tourism Organization.

Al-Mutairi added that Kuwait enjoys strong foundations for a dynamic tourism environment, supported by an active and capable private sector, which he described as “the primary engine of growth” in this field.

The meeting also discussed activating a comprehensive digital promotional campaign for the Visit Kuwait platform, enriching tourism content, and introducing fresh experiences that blend entertainment, culture, and maritime heritage—positioning Kuwait as a vibrant, evolving destination within the region.

Additional discussions focused on launching an annual calendar of national events, expanding tourism products, and integrating heritage elements into hotels and historic centers to create a sustainable tourism ecosystem that celebrates Kuwait’s identity and charm.
