Three land port employees arrested for tampering with travel records

The Land Ports Investigations Department of the Criminal Investigation Department of has arrested three civilian employees working for the General Department of Land Ports for tampering with the Ministry of Interior’s computer system which s the entry and exit of travelers.
The authorities said this happened after receiving information that two employees — one stationed at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing and the other at the Salmi border crossing — had abused their official positions by entering false travel data into the system.
They allegedly created fictitious entry and exit records for two female Kuwaiti citizens who were, in reality, outside the country, reports Al-Qabas daily
Coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor revealed that the two women were illegally receiving financial assistance despite having left Kuwait months earlier.
Verification by the Saudi authorities confirmed discrepancies between the actual border records and the data registered in Kuwait’s system, thereby exposing the fraud.
Following the investigation, the Public Prosecution granted legal authorization to detain the suspects. The first two employees were arrested at their workplaces and confessed to the charges, admitting the involvement of a third employee from the Salmi Passports Department who assisted in manipulating the automated system.
All three defendants were referred to the competent judicial authorities, and legal action is being taken in accordance with the law.
