This year’s first and last lunar eclipse dazzles skywatchers
The total eclipse, lasting about 83 minutes and known as the blood moon, unfolded in three phases, with the moon appearing red as it passed through the Earth’s shadow.

Kuwait witnessed a partial lunar eclipse on Sunday evening, which turned into a total eclipse at around 8:30 p.m., Al Rai newspaper reported.
The celestial event, known as the blood moon, unfolded in three phases: penumbral, partial, and total. During the total phase, the moon appeared red as it passed through the Earth’s shadow. The phenomenon is called the blood moon because the Earth’s atmosphere scatters sunlight, reflecting red rays onto the moon’s surface and giving it a reddish hue.
The total eclipse lasted about 83 minutes, concluding at 11:56 p.m. The rare spectacle was clearly visible across Kuwait and the Arabian Gulf, marking the first and only total lunar eclipse of the year in Kuwait’s skies.
