Finance Ministry activates contingency plan; prioritizes emergency shelters

In a move to strengthen national preparedness and government response capabilities, the Ministry of Finance has activated its emergency plan, prioritizing the readiness of emergency shelters in light of ongoing regional developments.
The decision comes under the directives of the Council of Ministers as part of Kuwait’s integrated emergency management strategy, reports Al-Qabas daily.
A key focus of the plan is the equipping of shelters in the Eastern and Southern Ministries Complex, prepared with full technical and service capabilities to accommodate approximately 900 people.
The shelters, classified as C4, are described as being in excellent condition, ready to host personnel in the event of a crisis. Additional warehouses have been designated in the eastern parking area for operational use when needed.
The Ministry has also ensured continuity of critical systems, such as Oracle and GFMIS, by deploying alternative devices, while enabling remote work in a secure environment through advanced cybersecurity programs.
A coordination meeting was held with the Ministry of Interior, specifically the Civil Defense Department, to align efforts and ensure a swift and effective response. The Ministry emphasized that these steps are part of routine procedures under pre-approved emergency plans, aimed at safeguarding the continuity of financial and public services under any circumstances.
A responsible source at the Ministry told Al-Rai that the announcement “reaffirms the proactive measures being implemented in light of general regional developments,” while underscoring that these preparations are precautionary and not linked to any specific threat.
