Misusing car horns in Kuwait can lead to 25 dinar fine

The car horn should only be used in cases of imminent danger and must not be used to “call someone” or in residential areas, as it causes a disturbance to others.

The penalty for using the car horn for any purpose other than its intended use could include imprisonment if the case is referred to court and the judge issues such a ruling. Additionally, a traffic point will be recorded on the offender’s record.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan, Assistant Director of the Traffic Awareness Section at the General Traffic Department, stated that using the car horn for any purpose other than its intended use is a traffic violation, punishable by a fine of 25 dinars, according to Al Qabas newspaper.

Bu Hassan added in an interview with Kuwait TV that the penalty for this violation could include imprisonment if the case is referred to court and the judge issues such a ruling. Additionally, a traffic point will be recorded on the offender’s record.

He clarified that the car horn should only be used in cases of imminent danger and must not be used to call someone or in residential areas, as it causes a disturbance to others. Misuse of the horn in such cases is considered a traffic violation.

He also stated that using horns with unauthorized sounds, such as disruptive music or for non-specified purposes, is punishable by law.
