Ministry champions Gulf energy collaboration to tackle shared challenges

The 31st meeting of the Electrical and Water Cooperation Committee among GCC countries in Qatar addresses the impact of increasing tariffs on consumption reduction.

The meeting in Qatar will address the impact of tariff increases on consumption in the GCC and finalize the mechanisms for calculating per capita and sector consumption rates.

Engineer Falah Al-Mutairi, the Assistant Undersecretary for Customer Services at the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, emphasized the significance of the 31st meeting of the Electrical and Water Cooperation Committee among GCC countries in strengthening collaboration and addressing shared challenges, according to Al Jarida newspaper.

Al-Mutairi told KUNA that the meeting, hosted in the Qatari capital, discusses several agenda items in preparation for submission to the next ministerial meeting for appropriate decisions and recommendations.

He added that the meeting covers various topics, including the continuation of the work of the Electrical and Water Rationalization Group in the GCC states, the ongoing efforts of the Subscriber Services Working Group, and the Best Service Office and Call Center Award, as well as the final recommendations from the Fourth Gulf Forum for Subscriber Services.

It also discusses completing the work on studying the impact of raising tariffs on reducing consumption in the GCC countries, finalizing the mechanism for calculating the per capita consumption rate and sector consumption rates, and completing the media plan aligned with scientific initiatives related to rationalization, among other topics.

Issa Al-Kuwari, the President of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, opened the meeting earlier on Sunday, with Kuwait participating through a delegation headed by Deputy Al-Mutairi.
