“Technical Guidance” rejects early submission of first semester final exams

The primary schools have approved their short tests for the first semester of 2024-2025, which are distributed over a period of 16 weeks. This is the total number of weeks for the study plan in the aforementioned stage, while the tests end in the fourteenth week, on Wednesday, 18 December 2024.

Simultaneously, the unofficial holiday for students will begin on Thursday, 19 December 2024, which has been reduced by two full weeks. This is being done considering the students’ annual habit of early vacation, and the phenomenon of collectively cutting the academic calendar.

Meanwhile the technical directives for the academic fields concluded with submitting of the first semester exam models for the intermediate and secondary stages, to the secret printing press, including the first semester curricula in full, with their scientific content.

A source from the education department revealed to Al-Rai that the directives were discussed regarding the possibility of bringing forward the dates of the short-tests for the ‘Elementary’ stage.

Maybe, bring forward the dates of the transfer class-tests that will start on 18 December, and end on 26 December, for the ‘Intermediate’ stage, and on 30 December, for the ‘Tenth’ and ‘Eleventh’ grades. If requested by the Ministry to avoid conflicting with the Gulf Cup Championship.

Moreover, it was also pointed that the matter was rejected due to its significant negative impact in the implementation of the study plan, and curricula, by approximately two weeks.

The source confirmed that the actual study plan for the ‘Primary’ stage is only 14 weeks, and for the ‘Intermediate’ stage is 12 weeks, which is the shortest in the world, stressing that the Ministry has not received any request of this type, but rather it was discussed in order to preempt any potential requests.

Furthermore, the source also explained that the matter is very difficult in the present time, especially after the delivery of the test forms to the secret printing press. Since they include the scientific content for the first semester in full, and it is not possible now to reduce the lessons or delete some of them, stressing that the test dates do not conflict with the date of organizing the tournament, which is already set from, 23 December 2024, to 3 January 2025.

Strategically speaking, this preemptive step comes from the point of view of fully devoting oneself to the organization, which is meant in emptying the streets and also to ensure increase in the number of audience.
