As part of its continuous efforts to support national initiatives that promote mental and community health, the Tanmia Charity Association sponsored the first Mental Health Forum and Exhibition, organized by the Awareness and Guidance Center of the Ministry of Social Affairs on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
Held under the patronage and attendance of Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, the event was themed “Reading Children’s Behavior.”
It drew wide participation from academic, educational, and social figures, as well as representatives of civil society institutions and the private sector.
The forum featured dialogue sessions and awareness programs addressing critical topics related to family and child mental health, emphasizing the role of community institutions in fostering psychological and behavioral awareness across society.
Through this collaboration, Tanmia Charity reaffirmed its recognition of the importance of psychological and educational issues for the Kuwaiti family, while highlighting its active role in strengthening partnerships between public and private sectors to enhance the nation’s social and psychological stability.
In his remarks, Dr. Nasser Al-Ajmi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Charitable Development Society, stated that sponsoring this forum aligns with the Society’s mission to support developmental and social initiatives in accordance with the Council of Ministers’ recommendations to localize charitable work within Kuwait.
He stressed that the Society’s efforts aim to ensure comprehensive contributions across humanitarian, educational, and psychological fields, in addition to its relief and development projects both locally and internationally.
Dr. Al-Ajmi further noted that the association seeks to expand partnerships with government bodies and civil organizations to strengthen family cohesion and promote positive communication values.
He emphasized that such forums play a vital role in raising awareness, exchanging expertise, and improving the well-being of Kuwaiti families and society as a whole.
The forum concluded with a set of key recommendations, including enhancing parents’ skills in positive communication, adopting positive parenting principles, focusing on early detection of psychological and behavioral issues, and promoting joint cooperation between families and schools.
It also called for greater community and media engagement to foster a culture of mental health, build psychological resilience in children, and create a supportive family and educational environment that contributes to a stable and mentally healthy society.
All those who attended the event praised the forum’s success, underscoring the importance of continuing such pioneering initiatives that integrate awareness, education, and community cooperation to build a cohesive Kuwaiti family and a healthier, more resilient society.
