Tamilnadu Engineers Forum Kuwait hosts 16th TICE & 9th EEA

‘Engineering Sustainability and Innovation for a Greener Future’

The Tamilnadu Engineers Forum (TEF) Kuwait marked another milestone with the successful hosting of the 16th Technological Innovations Conference and Exposition (TICE) and the 9th Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) on October 9, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Drawing a record turnout of more than 1,000 attendees, the event united industry leaders, engineers, and innovators under the theme “The Rise of Green Engineering: Advancing Sustainability Through Technology.” The conference underscored how sustainable innovation is central to shaping the future of modern engineering and global progress.

The 2025 edition was particularly significant as TEF celebrated its 26th anniversary — a proud testament to over two decades of professional empowerment, technical advancement, and community service for Indian engineers in Kuwait. Over the years, TEF has established itself as a hub for professional growth and knowledge-sharing, strengthening the bonds between Kuwait’s industrial sector and its vibrant Indian engineering community.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the arrival of distinguished guests, followed by the traditional cake-cutting and ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Dignitaries were then escorted on an exhibition tour featuring cutting-edge engineering innovations and sustainable solutions.

The formal proceedings began with the national anthems of Kuwait and India and a brief safety moment, setting a tone of unity and professionalism.

In his welcome address, TEF General Secretary Eng. Balasubramanian extended heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors, exhibitors, delegates, and participants for their continuous support. TEF President Eng. Raja followed with a presidential address reflecting on the organization’s 26-year journey, emphasizing that its enduring success lies in the collective efforts and dedication of its members and partners. A commemorative video highlighting TEF’s milestones and contributions captured the audience’s admiration.

The event was graced by distinguished chief guests including Mr. Hamza Abdullah Bakhash, Chairman of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), and Mr. Hamad Rashid Al-Zuwayer, Deputy CEO (North & West Kuwait) of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). Mr. Bakhash spoke passionately about Kuwait’s commitment to sustainability and praised the invaluable contributions of Indian engineers to the nation’s infrastructure and development. Mr. Al-Zuwayer highlighted KOC’s environmental milestones, particularly reducing gas flaring from 16% to an impressive 0.5%, reaffirming the company’s dedication to a greener future.

The keynote address by Dr. Fahad Al-Ghanem, Manager of Operations Support Group (Gas) at KOC, shed light on the increasing role of green energy in the global energy landscape. He urged engineers to adopt sustainable practices that would ensure a resilient and eco-conscious future. Adding an international dimension, Dr. Igazeuma Okoroba, Head of Sustainability at Dangote Cement, Nigeria, delivered a special address on the transformative power of sustainability-driven innovation.

Representing the Embassy of India, Kuwait, Dr. Harit Ketan Shelat, Second Secretary, commended TEF for its enduring role in fostering professional unity and promoting bilateral cooperation between India and Kuwait.

The 9th Engineering Excellence Awards segment celebrated outstanding achievements in both project-based and individual categories. The awards recognized exceptional innovation, leadership, and contributions to engineering excellence, and were received with enthusiasm and applause from the audience. Following the awards, over 25 technical papers were presented across two parallel sessions in the Al Baraka and Al Jawhara Ballrooms, covering a diverse array of emerging technologies and sustainable engineering applications.

With participation from more than 70 exhibitors, 30 speakers, and 25 technical presentations, this year’s TICE and EEA were among the largest engineering gatherings in the region. Attendees represented a wide spectrum of sectors including oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, academia, and government. The event reaffirmed TEF Kuwait’s pivotal role as a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, while strengthening the community spirit among engineers in Kuwait.

The grand event concluded with a raffle draw, prize distribution, and a vote of thanks, followed by lunch at 3:00 PM. The organizing committee expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, sponsors, speakers, and attendees for their remarkable participation. The 16th TICE and 9th EEA not only celebrated engineering excellence but also reaffirmed TEF’s commitment to driving sustainability, innovation, and professional unity in Kuwait and beyond.
