Syrian gets 7 years for forging Kuwaiti citizenship

The Kuwaiti Criminal Court has sentenced a retired Syrian soldier to seven years in prison and imposed a fine of 961,000 Kuwaiti dinars, after finding him guilty of forging Kuwaiti citizenship and falsely claiming kinship to a deceased Kuwaiti citizen, based on Article 1 of the citizenship file.
According to case details, the Public Prosecution charged the defendant — considered a public employee under the law — with unlawfully seizing public funds from several state institutions, including the Kuwait Credit Bank, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the Public Institution for Housing Welfare, reports Al-Rai daily.
He also illegally obtained financial benefits reserved for Kuwaiti citizens, using forged official documents.
These documents, which contained false personal data, were presented to officials at multiple government agencies, who were deceived into disbursing funds into his personal accounts.
The court emphasized that the fraud and forgery crimes were interconnected, enabling the accused to illegally collect substantial financial benefits over time.
