Switzerland announced the postponement of talks scheduled for Friday between the United States and Iran aimed at reaching a final agreement between the two countries.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the talks, due to be held at the Burgenstock mountain resort with the participation of Qatar and Pakistan, had been postponed.
It added that Switzerland remains ready to facilitate the talks, noting that preparatory work at Burgenstock is continuing and that no further details are available at this stage.
Earlier on Friday, the White House announced the postponement of US Vice President J.D. Vance’s planned visit to Switzerland citing logistical complications.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also postponed a scheduled visit to Switzerland after the Islamabad memorandum of understanding was signed electronically and entered into force.
A spokesman for Sharif said the next phase would proceed through separate technical tracks on several issues within the framework of the agreement, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the diplomatic effort.
The United States and Iran signed the memorandum of understanding electronically on Wednesday to end the war that began on February 28.
