Supreme Committee decided to withdraw 3,043 Kuwaiti nationalities
According to the Supreme Committee for Nationality Investigation, the number of those covered by its decisions exceeded 10,000, reaching 12,175 cases since last August.
The Supreme Committee for Nationality Investigation is holding meetings to review nationality files and make decisions accordingly.
In its recent meeting, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, H. E. Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, the committee decided to withdraw Kuwaiti nationality from 3,043 cases.
These cases are now being prepared for presentation to the Council of Ministers. The committee included holders of nationalities under Article 1, Article 7, and Article 8.
The number of those covered by the committee’s decisions exceeded 10,000, reaching 12,175 cases since last August.
The cases covered by the decision were distributed as follows:
- Withdrawing the Kuwaiti nationality certificate in accordance with Article (21 bis A) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments—fraud and false statements (forgery)—from those who may have acquired it through dependency. A total of 164 cases were affected under Article 1.
- Withdrawing Kuwaiti citizenship in accordance with Article 13, Paragraph 1 of the Nationality Law and its amendments—fraud and false statements (forgery)—from those who may have acquired it through dependency. A total of 16 cases were affected under Article 7.
- Withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship according to Article 13, Paragraph 4 of the Nationality Law and its amendments, numbering 2,863 cases under Article 8, belonging to 54 different countries.
In a related context, the Central Agency for Illegal Residents whose nationalities have been revoked, in accordance with Article 8, has called for reviewing some government agencies to obtain a certificate of clearance after receiving the agency’s card.
The agency stated that the required clearance certificate must be obtained from the following 14 entities:
- Kuwait University.
- General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities.
- Abdullah Al-Salem University.
- Ministry of Higher Education.
- Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (except for those over the age of 50 for these entities).
- Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources.
- National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises Development.
- Kuwait Credit Bank.
- Kuwait Credit Information Network Company (CyNet).
- Ministry of Communications.
- Ministry of Finance.
- Ministry of Social Affairs.
- Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.
- Public Institution for Social Security.
